After the completion of the white paper project, I was asked to reflect on what I learned throughout the project. The white paper came as a very challenging and new assignment that I had never done before. Throughout the writing process I was required to research about my project topic, which was accounting. After researching I learn much more about writing with the accounting profession. I also need to research how to construct a white paper. It is evident that I lacked the creativity skills required to make an appealing project. After hearing the word “research” I did not think that this would be a creative assignment at all. I was grossly mistaken. I learned that the doc design for a white paper needs to be vibrant and drawing so the reader is interested in learning more about your topic. I decided to design my project in a less informative and more reader friendly way. My introduction was basically a summary of my total project. I thought this was a good idea because it would tell the reader what they were about to read for the next two pages. Another thing that was new to me about this project was formulating my own solution at the end of my research. Most research papers that I have written in the past do not ask for my opinion about the topic. Asking for my opinion and solution made me much more engaged in the paper. Instead of just stating what other people think, I was able to say what was on my mind. The peer review also helped me rethink and better my second draft. My classmates were able to critique my white paper and gave me great pointers as to what I did well, and what I need to work on. In conclusion the white paper was a new great learning experience.
